Mr. Abid underwent a kidney transplant 12 years ago when his kidneys ceased to function. Faced with the choice between dialysis and a kidney transplant, Mr. Abid went for the transplant immediately, avoiding the potential complications of dialysis.

He received a living kidney donor transplant, where a healthy donor—a first-degree relative—can safely donate a kidney if they are a match. Mr. Abid’s donor was his brother, who, 12 years later, shows no signs of ever having been a kidney donor.

Reflecting on his experience, Mr. Abid shared how the transplant transformed his life: “Before the transplantation, the problem I had was so severe; everything came back after the surgery.
